Ark Media is a business with a vision when it comes to sustainability. We are determined to make our work more sustainable in every way possible, which is why we have signed up to the Midlands Net Zero pledge. In line with the pledge, we have set our goals to eventually become a net zero business. But what does that mean for Ark Media? 

What is Net Zero? 

In 2019, the UK became the first country in the world to commit to becoming net zero by 2050 – with the Midlands pledge aiming for 2041. This means removing the same amount of carbon from the atmosphere that you are responsible for putting in. Essentially slowing down climate change as a result. 

How can a business become Net Zero? 

Sustainability and carbon neutrality can sometimes seem like a difficult task to achieve in the workplace, especially when you’re office based like us. This is why we decided to work along-side Sustainability West Midlands, to come up with some easy tips for businesses to implement. Some may seem simple, but they are all extremely effective for becoming a greener, more environmentally friendly business. We’ve even made it easy for you by doing what Ark do best, and putting all of these tips into a handy video for you to refer back to. 

There are obvious solutions, such as ensuring all your lights are turned off when finishing for the day, and making sure all of your electrical equipment that’s unused is switched off. A small task that can make a huge difference! 

Another great way to work on sustainability within your business, is to target the areas with the greatest impact. Take a look through your bills and expenses, what do you spend the most on? Is there any way of reducing your usage? Both you and the environment will benefit from reduced costs and emissions. 

Ark Media finds public transport a great tool for getting around, especially for travelling to and from work. We find public transport ideal for travelling throughout Birmingham to visit our clients. When it’s not available, we even car share to reduce emissions on the road. A great way to keep the team together and become greener.
